Cannot see MFM maps loaded into internal memory of Nuvi 1250

Postby jcat » Mon Apr 05, 2010 5:43 pm

Hi, newbie here. I loaded the MFM file (gmapsupp.img) into the device's internal memory (not on microSD card) under the folder :\Garmin but somehow the maps were not loaded after re-starting the device. The map was also not listed under the Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info. I can only see the two preloaded maps that came with the device.

Anyone with solution to this?

hi,

you should create a folder "MAP" under the root directory of your Garmin 1250, then transfer/copy the gmapsupp.img into the "MAP" folder.
For example, if your computer detected your Garmin 1250 as drive "F:", then you should copy the gmapsupp.img into "F:\Map\"

Hope this help.

Thank you.

Regards,

C.C.Wong

For the Nuvi 1xxx series, maps are no longer stored in the \Garmin folder in the internal memory but in the \.System folder. You can either locate your gmapsupp.img in the \.System folder or as Bro ccwong suggested, in the \Map Folder.

If you store in your SD card, then \Garmin Folder still works as well as \Map Folder so you actually have plenty of options.
Lean not on your own understanding

Garmin 1250 MFM fail to install

Postby squareballs » Thu Apr 22, 2010 4:30 pm

Dear sifus,

My device comes with preloaded Malsing Map and would like to replace it with MFM
I've create gmapsupp.img and placed it into the garmin folder of my 1250.. Nothing happens and it is still Malsing maps.
The problem is I don't see any other .img files to replace it with the new MFM.

This device is another device, previously using 200W and no problem at all updating it..

Please help!

* i wonder if i've post under the right section.

Thanks and regards.

no need to replace....
just create a folder called "MAP" under the root directory, and put ur mfm-garmin inside the folder.
now, you can enjoy MFM map.

Hi, just wanted to know is the function in 1250, the same as 255. Just that it has add-on of TMC.
Junction View, Lane Assist and Postal-code Search, same as 255...

Thanks. :)

Other differences:

1. Ability to add multiple maps with customised names in Map folder, instead of just gmapsupp.img and a few others
2. Faster GPS signal acquisition (from what I observed)
3. microSD card (I forgot if 255 is SD or microSD)
