Hi All!
2 days ago I upgraded my Nuvi 765T's firmware from Garmin webite. I was in shock after that because the following functions had gone missing!
1. TNext Turn Page
2. Junction View
3. Lane Info
Only function availabel is TurnList Page now.
Anyone had siilar experience? Anyone can advise what can be done to recover back the above state functions? I had done reset & things still remain the same. Sigh.................. please help! Thanks!

Is there any file or folder MUST BE delete first from garmin folder before run updater.exe? (I've upgraded Nuvi 255W US version to MYSG before, and I must delete text and voice folder first, otherwise it will brick Nuvi.)
After switching, do the 3D Building, JCV and LA maps of CN North America still works?
Thanks. Agus.
Anyone please??

Re: Nuvi 765T Part 4
My Nuvi 765t US version came with ver.3.80 firmware which was updated to ver.3.90. I would like to convert it for use with TWN firmware as they are many more useful features available.
I have tried methods mentioned in this forum and others without success.
I was able to convert the firmware and use it provided the unit was not switched off. But after switched off and on, I got white screen. I had to revert back to the original US ver 3.90.
I have tried TWN ver.2.5 to2.8 to no avail. Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Check the board version of your nuvi 765t US unit.
Turn on unit, then press and hold the battery icon (upper right corner of screen).
The top black bar will show SW Ver 3.90 (since you updated the SW from 3.80 to 3.90) and the board version.
Your's probably says the below:
Code: Select all
SW ver 3.90 Nuvi 765 V9 4GB P1 DH04_R 330MHz
If so, that board (Nuvi 765 V9 4GB P1 DH04_R 330MHz" does not support TWN SW below v2.90.
Try using the TWN v2.90 that bahathir posted below on page 20, post #3:
http://www.malfreemaps.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=5344&start=190
Use it with the same Updater.exe that you used before.
Changes 2.80 -> 2.90
* Sync updates with Nuvi 765 models v3.80 English.
* Support can be automatically temporarily evade (Morak hurricane) bridge, the regional function.
* To improve the pictures can be read coordinates information (EXIF), and make photo navigation.
Then update to TWN v3.00 directly from Garmin http://www.garmin.com.tw/products/Nuvi765_TWN/download.htm
OR use the below TWN v3.00 that bahathir posted on the last post of page 8 of this thread. :
http://rapidshare.com/files/328044589/765TWN300.zip
Use it with the same Updater.exe that you used before.
As bathathir said, "use it at your own risk", but it did work OK on my unit with the older board below:
Code: Select all
SW Ver 3.60 nuvi 775 V7 8GB P1 S3 330MHz
Please reply back with your board version and results.
Re: Nuvi 765T Part 4
WknThDg, thank you so much for your prompt response.
The board version of my 765t is exactly as stated by you and no wonder I failed because I did not go further than ver.2.80 TWN. in my attempt.
I will proceed to the next stage as soon as I have digested the extra infromation you gave and start testing.
Will reply back when done.
Thanks again.

I recommend that you first use the TWN v2.90 firmware and then update to the TWN v3.00.
This is because the TWN v2.90 also includes a newer Boot BLK & X-Loader (TWN version) as well.
Then the Boot BLK, X-Loader and System will all have the same TWN part number (HWID) B1007-00.
I think that the TWN v3.00 will only update the "System" software.
Therefore, the U.S versions of the Boot BLK & X-Loader and the U.S part number (B0870-00) may still remain if you go directly to TWN v3.00.

To view the "Inventory" screen as shown above:
Turn on unit, then press and hold the battery icon (upper right corner of screen).
The top black bar will show SW Ver 3.90 (since you updated the SW from 3.80 to 3.90) and the board version.
Press "Next" (lower right corner) and it will go to the next screen.
Press "Start Test" (bottom middle), then the "More" button will enable (to the right of "Start Test").
Press "More", and it will go to the "Inventory" screen.
Wait and let the unit test everything shown on the screen (look at the far right column). This will take several minutes.
All firmware, software, maps, 3D, JCV, voice (Audio) and other files will be tested.
Some files may show "Error" or Incompatible, and if they do delete them.
Some of the U.S. voice (Audio) files are now Incompatible using the newer TWN firmware versions, therefore test with TWN v2.90 and then again with TWN 3.00.
When you are done flashing TWN v2.90, the "Boot BLK", "X-Loader" and "System" part numbers (HWID) should all have "B1007-00".
When you are done flashing TWN v3.00, all three part numbers (HWID) will remain "B1007-00", but the versions of the "Boot BLK" & "X-Loader" will probably remain "2.90" and only the "System" version will change to "3.00", but that is OK.
Re: Nuvi 765T Part 4
WknThDg,
Many thanks for your guidance and recommendation. I was able to start with TWN ver.2.90 and then TWN ver.3.00.
Other than the few incompatabilities mentioned in this forum and others, personally, I think the advantages outweight the disadvantages.
I will be using this firmware for as long as needed.
Thanks.

I'm glad it worked out for you.
Sorry, but I forgot to mention about the TWN JCV split screen display problem when using some maps (such as City Navigator North America).
Also, the "Estimated Time to Destination" calculation usually inaccurate (by displaying a longer time than the actual).
I assume that you had some voice file "incompatabilities"... correct?
Did you have any others and/or errors show on the "Inventory" screen after either of the TWN versions where flashed, and if so what were they?
I agree though... the TWN firmware advantages are definitely worth the change from the US versions.
Re: Nuvi 765T Part 4
WknThDg,
Thank you for your continue interest in the conversion.
The Inventory screen indeed shown "B1007-00" on all three part #s and the ver. of "Boot Blk", "X-Loader" & the "System" all changed to "3.00". Those that were not needed were "Erased" with the notation at the far right. Everything passed.
I am aware of the JCV split screen but there are far and few in-between or non-existance in my region that I do not care much.
As for the voice incompabilities, Jill is good enough or I may attempt the use of Voice Editor mantioned in this or other forum for a couple more.
By the way, this is the first time I ventured into the "Inventory" screen and also after changing over to TWN ver.3.00.
Thanks.
