It is not only MFM maps that do not show all the road lines but this also effects ALL third party non-Garmin compiler compiled maps ie.. MSM maps, Rotweiler Maps, Navagasi etc...

The 3790 does attributes ie.. beautiful form factor, instant boot up, fast screen rendering, 2D and 3D nice map display, accelerometer to tilt screen orientation to portrait/landscape, full screen JCV, automobile or pedestrian mode with ability to customize options within each, improved voice activation etc.....

Should you go for it ? It is the nicest GPS in the market and if this is your first GPS, go for it. But if you have a recently bought model, then it is not worth the upgrade if it cannot handle 3rd party maps  ](*,)

Bro silverbeauty,

I took your advice religously & seriously; for almost an eternity, I refused to even take a look at the 3790.
And then hor....... I went to Perfect Watch and played with it.
& then hor ....... I bought it after 3 minutes!!!
Came with the traffic thingy.

After that, I told myself that since I shall be using this unit mostly for travelling, I shall be using the standard Garmin NT maps. Hahaha! The old 360 is still chugging along in my car.

Cheers.

silverbeauty wrote:Bro coolerbok, the 3790T is a nice GPS with great new features but I suggest you hold off your purchase until they taken out the infancy problems.

You are stuck with Garmin NT maps and MSM NT maps until they fix the firmware. For not cannot use CGS Mapper generated MSM / MFM maps as roads lines are hidden behind polygons

I have not tried other 3rd party maps but I suspect, navaigasi, Roweiler, Philippines road guide also same situation .....

And to answer your last question, yes it works like the 1460 in which you can put whatever name maps into the /map directory and fill it up to memory capacity ....
