Re: Changing Splash Screen For Nuvi205w

Postby m3gps » Tue Jan 06, 2009 10:39 am

I have checked my Nuvi 205W. There is no option for me to change the Splash Screen. As you said, the splash screen changing might allowed in firmware v3.10 and later. My Nuvi 205W firmware version is 2.1. So what can I do? Change the firmware? do this will void the warranty? and how to to so?

m3gps,

I thought you should know this better since you are a vendor for Garmin. The warranty guidelines. Better read up more if you want to start selling....

We still not get any reply from Garmin. But then, we hope that there is some experts that might assist us.

I have changed my Splash Screen. US Set latest firmware. About the exact steps, maybe later. Maybe it is changing it when viewing the pictures using picture viewer.

Hi,

I'm also having the same problem. There is a tweak which I've read somewhere in this thread:

1. Switch on your nuvi200W until the loading sequence completed.
2. Go to Diagnostic page by pressing battery indicator for few seconds.
3. When Diagnostic page appear, plug in your USB.
4. Slide OFF & ON again. Your nuvi GPSr is now kicking... I think!

Cheers.

but as for the 205W,i can use the normal USB cable with Iphone charger adapter to navigate while charging, and i don't have to use the original charger also can use the garmin navigation.

and i can also use the Iphone home charging wall plug + USB cable to charge while by the way browsing the map for my new 205W ,but not for the 200W model.

I'm a newbie here... Using Nuvi 205W for less than a week...

Try this :- Tools -> Picture Viewer -> Select Picture -> Info -> Tick "Display at power on?"

Is this what you want to do??? :-k

Btw, the above is from firmware version 4.80...

Dear all,
I have used mapsource to transfer the ver 1.36 Malfreemaps (road maps plus topo) to my nuvi 205w. The topo map is ok. However, the nuvi only shows the road map of Melaka, Penang and Singapore areas only. The other regions are missing. I have tried using mapsource version 6137 and 6153. I have also upgraded the firmware of the nuvi. But the problem remains there. Anyone can help?

Do you also have MalSingMaps installed in your Nuvi?

Yes, I have malsingmaps in the nuvi but it's unchecked in the map options. What puzzles me is that the nuvi only selectively shows the regions in melaka/penang/singapore while leaving other areas blank.
Thx for your attention.
