The 225W still shuts down after I reloaded the map as per your suggestion.

Anyone can try to simulate the problem with MFM latest map using Nuvi range devices?

I might wanna send back to the shop for warranty if any of yours appears to be okay....

Did you try hard reset the Nuvi and see if problem still there ?

I dare not try as the unit is only few days old and not even a week. I understand that the reset button is hidden under the serial no. sticker,...no?

That has been removed for these new batch. Suggest you bring it back to dealer for exchange. If he insist no issue, get him/her to show you that it is not an issue in front of you.

to mito...try this step

1. create the new folder (msm maps) into internal memory
2. copy all the msm maps into the new folder
3. install again the mfm maps into memory
4. wish you successful

Maybe a conflict with MSM. Try to rename it.

How do i know which one is the MSM map? Even when I loaded the gmapsupp.img, the system did not ask me if I want to overwrite it. It seems that the brand new Nuvi 255W unit does not have gmapsupp.img when i purchase it.

Mine is also new 255W singapore version. The MSM maps comes with the nuvi but it does not have the MSM gmapsupp in the garmin folder. What I did was to generate the Malfree maps on my PC and then transfer the gmapsupp into the internal memory -> garmin folder. So far it works with either MSM or Malfree whichever is checked.

Yes, we both do not have the MSM gmapsupp in the Garmin folder in main memory.

Everything was fine until i did a search of POI. I spell the name, and found the results. Once I clicked on the result and tap the "map" button (maybe too fast or several times), it hangs for a while and then shuts down.

This has happened even after I re-loaded the MFM map. Are you able to simulate my issue with your 255W unit?
