Topic Continue from Nuvi 765T Part 1 by Alyem 28 Oct 2009

Wow!, I just missed the party :)....

Ok, I already tried the 765TWN270 (my own clean rgn and via gupdate.gcd) and the PouchX's 765TWN271 and.... unfortunately, it ran TOO SLOW on my 755T. So I revert it back to 765TWN260. How about others?

Anyway, I will try out the new GPS firmware 2.90 in the moment :).

2.70 is same as 3.60 for Europe.
2.70/3.60 is much faster then 2.60/3.40

Perform user data reset after uploading.

At last. I abled to 2.70TWNized my 755T. Feel VERY RELIEF now :)

1) Flash to 3.60US (clean).
2) Delete User Data
3) Set for reflash to 2.70TWN (clean)
4) Everything ran FINE!!!!!

Previously, I tried 2.60TWN with 2.90GPS and th GPS v2.90 ran very smoothly, as ussual :)... Everything just wonderful.

So, If you have 2.x0TWN in your western nuvi, please reflash it to western firmware first, clear user data, and then flash it with 2.70TWN.

Good Luck.

Okay so now with the latest TWN firmware, what are the full features that US firmware doesn't have?

I have some problem with my 765 as below:

1. Route Recalculation
In the past, when I was using 765T EU 3.40 firmware (original firmware coming with the unit), my unit can recalculate the route very very fast. Less than 3 second when I was out of the route.

But, with 2.71 TWN, it takes more than 5 second to recalculate.

2. Sattlelite Signal Acquire
Before, when I turned off my unit and remove from cradle (just for a moment) then put it on the cradle and turned on again, sattlelite signal was still full. Don't need to relocate the signal.

Today, with 2.71 TWN, when I put it back to cradle, the signal was lost. It needs to relocate signal again.

Besides that, my 765 2.71 TWN takes more time to acquire sattlelite signal than EU/US 3.40 has done. Less than 30 seconds (EU/US 3.40) vs. More than 2 minutes (TWN 2.71)

Is this called "HOT FIX"
I didn't try it with EU/US 3.60 yet.

Could anyone help me to clarify the problems, please?

Thank you so much...

P.S. I did reset my unit every time after flashing the firmware.

Did u copy the ExtData and RemoteSW folders (from PouchX 2.71) into the Garmin folder?

I had the same feeling when deleted the 2 original folders and replaced with the folders from 2.71. Later tried out keeping the original folders (US FW 3.60) and only pasted the files of the above ExtData and RemoteSW. As a result, it locks much faster (at least as fast as previous 2.61) and managed to get 3m accuracy even when driving. Donno whether there is some technical explanation to that or its just my baseless feeling... hmmm :-k
