Select only one active map via mapinfo menu
Is volume set to audible level?

Garmin 2465

Postby blowoff66 » Sat Jul 30, 2011 11:58 am

Hi. I just bought a Garmin 2465. By default it has been installed with Malsing map and I intend to change it to malfree map. After following all of the instruction posted at this site (malfreemap), I am still unable to install the map. Folder available inside my Garmin are Garmin, GPX, Help, Keyboards, Pictures, Text, Themes, Vehicle, Voice. After opening the Garmin folder, I can only find one file and that is GarminDevice and that is also in XML Document. So, where shall I make the necessary changes? In which folder shall I put gmapsupp (file generated by MFM)? Please provide detail steps. Thank you in advance.

You need not touch the preloaded maps which reside in /system directory. By default this directory is hidden. You have to set windows to display it.

It is suggested to put MFM map into SD card/map directory.

As a newbie, putting/updating maps in main memory carries risk of nicking your Nuvi if corruption of map data occurs in the course of transfer.

Thanks for the reply. I have successfully updated the map and right now using MFM.onlyone problem though, how come the POI symbol does not appear in the map although I have tick the box that states 'include POI for nuvi 1460 and etc' during the uploading process from PC to my gps device.

Garmin firmware restricts display of POI icons in newer series of Nuvis

Ok. Thanks. Is there any other way to make the POI symbol appear? Because, without the symbol, the map looks weird...
