Settings for longer lasting batteries...

1. Use of an all-white background wallpaper
2. Tones: OFF
3. Terrain Shading: OFF
4. Power Save: ON
5. Backlight: 30% max.(if required)
6. Use of quality-assured alkaline batteries; Energizer Advanced($$$), Energizer MAX($$) & IKEA Alkalines($) are good.
7. Leaving it at a 'page' where the screen does not need to refresh constantly, i.e. going to the map, compass, satellite status or trip computer page only when necessary.
8. Turn off the base map.
9. Allow map POIs and/or waypoint details to show up only at 200m and below; requires less rendering, I suppose?
10. Turn off electronic compass.
11. Pressure Trending set at "Save When Power On".
12. Barometer Mode: Fixed Elevation.
13. Barometer Auto Calibration: OFF
14. Disable track logging.
15. Load or enable only the necessary maps.
16. v2.95 Beta firmware

21-hours(just barely) of continuous operation is not impossible. :peace:

Getting a set of rechargeable batteries with 2700 NiMH will do the trick. Suggest to purchase 4 units of those batteries and you will be set. No need to waste money buying those normal batteries. Pointless. In the long run you will waste money more....

Bro muiszush,

While I totally agree with your suggestion in view of economic and environmental considerations, until such time when I can find a truly reliable and practical means of recharging the NiMHs in the field, I will have no choice but to stick to disposables after using up all 4 rechargeables. But of course, in situations where I return to civilisation at the end of a 'working day', my 4 x VARTA 2700s and Sanyo Quik-Charger are still the way to go.

Eh, you here to pique an offensive response from everyone you interact with or were you lacking in attention in some some form or the other when you were Little Fauzee?! Don't specifications and commonality of components mean anything to you?!

Nevermind, I'll bite... :finga:

When you have nothing to say... DON'T.
