Warranty is international, anyway for your info, regardless of where you are in Asia, Taiwan is central service centre hub.

are you sure it is international warranty ??

That is what the warranty card states ...

hey guys.. guess waht? I BOUGHT MY NUVI 205W IN TAIWAN D!!  \:D/

damn syiok.. comes with ori taiwanese map 2009.04 (obviously since this is a taiwanese unit).. interesting to note, that ALL THOSE MODELS I SEE IN MALAYSIA ARE OBSOLETE IN TAIWAN!! ALMOST ALL STORES I WENT DONT EVEN HAVE 205W IN STOCK ANYMORE..

you can only find the latest models in the shops here.. 5" screens!! some even has TV functions!! wanlaoyeh..

anyhow.. i was lucky to bump into 1 shop that still has this unit.. and it is the last unit, the display unit.. because it is a display model, i manage to haggle down the price further to NT3800!! thats RM384.18!!

came with manual (in traditional chinese though.. lucky i can read chinese), car charger, car mount. had to fork out extra to get a screen protector..

luckily this nuvi uses the standard USB port, which is the same as my canon camera.. so i chose NOT to buy the 'optional' USB cable..

this unit has tonnes of features! it even has some guide books inside it.. with introduction to almost all food, interesting places, reviews, NIGHT MARKETS, directions and you can even press 'GO' and garmin will route a route for you.. i set it to pedestrian for me to use.. (dont want to be walking along the highways..)

havent tried MFM map yet.. didnt bring an extra SD card.. will try when i get back malaysia.

Got JCV and LA or not?.... mine only support JCV no Lane Assist.... Yes, plenty of Custom POIs (speed camera, traffic lights...etc)... that is updated by Garmin Taiwan.... And the price is good... The local agents here are really making big bucks on the 255W.... don't buy from them.

Why don't you try to simulate GPS location to a position in Malaysia, and see whether that resolves the problem.

Thanks in advance.
