My house got flood last week, and my garmin drop into water....I use heater to dry it. After I turn on, had sound, but screen can't see . Anybody can help?

Did you dismantle the unit and dry out the inside ie.. circuit board, display etc ..... Hopefully this cures problem .. if not then battery could have shorted out the components then

The chances of recovery is quite low... as the internal battery will short circuit the board when it touch the water. However, like bro SB said, try to dismantle it, let it dry and finger cross!

Do not switch on until you have tried to thoroughly dry out the inside.

Try drying on a low heat source for several days even without dismantling the unit. A good low heat source would be the transformer of A/C adapters. Just leave your GPS on top of an A/C adapter that is on all the time for say a week then try switching on again after charging the battery. Keep your fingers crossed as your earlier power-up could have caused irreversible damage.

using MFM-Garmin-110221 map

Bought in 2009 and till now did not update its firmware/software.
Using
I found that it is very slow in detecting satellite and now it kept on disconnect from satellite, and the signal bar is either zero or 1 bar (red color)...

Could this be software/firmware issue?
Where can I update its software/firmware?

Pls help me.

Taiwan unit can only be updated from Garmin Taiwan Website.

its very easy. just go to garmin.com.tw, log in or create an account if you havent, register your unit, then connect your 205W to the PC, it will detect your garmin and advise you if there is a new firmware.

if tehre is a new firmware, it will then start to download the firmware.

Download the MFM installer from this link viewtopic.php?p=123970#p123970

Run the installer to generate the gmapsupp.img.

Copy this into your GPS SD card/garmin directory.
