I'm running it off the SD.. put in as SDHC:\Garmin\Map\gmasupp.img (let me check again)
Did it manually by copying, not using MFM installer.

Running 2.70

no issues

Map file in SD card should reside in \map directory

Confirmed, was using SDHC:\Garmin\ directory, not map directory on my 1460, and map works.
POI locations used is SDHC:\Garmin\POI. Upon bootup, there will be a prompt for you to copy them to internal memory, but for POIs only.

Confirmed maps to be on card as the maps do not appear in Tools -> Settings -> Map -> Info when card is removed, and does when the card is inserted.

No issues so far, using custom MFM POIs and MFM full poly map. and NOT SLOW... \:D/

Using 2.70 firmware.. had issues with pre 2.7 firmware rebooting at random.. even 2.7 reboots occasionaly, diagnostics show shutdown causes to be RTL Trap and Data Abort, but at lesser frequency to be an annoyance.

In case it is a possible card compatibility issue, I'm using Kingston 4GB Class 4 card without problems.

Occasional slow redraw on some parts, but overall, the MFM community has done a :good:

i decided to leave the device memory untouched (with preloaded SLA/MSM map) except for Voices & Vehicle which we have no choice. all my additional .img map files are saved inside the micro SD card that came with the free Garmin SEA NT maps, i.e.

Preloaded SLA/MSM map at device:\.system\
Freebie Garmin SEA NT map at mSD":\GARMIN\gmapsupp.img
Additional MFM map at mSD:\MAP\MFM_101129.img
Additional other maps (e.g. NSW Australia) at mSD:\MAP\NSW_080819.img

same here... upon bootup, unit will ask whether to copy additional data and i always choose no.

The nuvi keeps asking for additional data because some custom pois are present on the microSD. I deleted the excess custom POIs I never use and I have no more prompts to copy POIs.

was navigating last night and screen suddenly went blank. could not get it up running the whole night, neither could my computer detect the device/mSD card drive thru windows explorer... panicked

called navicom this morning and they told me to press the on button and hold it there for abt 30s. set magically turned on after about 10+s.
phew! what a relief, tot have to drop by navicom for warranty repair or something.
their staff said this could be due to a bug on firmware (but unlikely since i'm already on latest release 2.80) but also said it is due to me MFM map, claiming that MFM maps use older formats that are not fully compatible with the new 1460.

did anyone also experience this?
any ill effects for pressing the on button this way?

tried route simulation today from singapore to ipoh using MFM, screen went black after just few minutes. had to press the on button for 10+ seconds again to restart #-o

switched to the MSM 2010.40 and re-ran the route, didn't experience blackout while "travelling" till KL so I assume the rest should be OK and stopped the simulation.

hope this MFM blackout syndrome affects only longer routes so that i can still rely on MFM when in M'sia and S.Thailand, MSM shows a lot less details :-k

another smallish issue... i'm running on MFM v.101206 but somehow the speed cams and alerts in singapore didn't appear when i pass them.

is it a 1460 problem or is it becos they're not in the map in the first place?
where can i download the POI & warnings for them?

thanks

Hi,

I Did not realize that there is a version 2.80 firmware. If you were to check the update site now on http://www.Garmin.com.sg, the latest is still the ver 2.60. However, during mid of November, there was definitely a new firmware entitled Ver 2.70 that came out for a few days. I did download that and installed it (anyone wants to test the version 2.70, PM me and I can let you have it.) Then immediately after that the ver 2.70 disappeared and was replaced by the old 2.60.....

With the ver 2.70, I did notice that the stop button had reappear for the 1 sec tracking feature but the favorites recording could no longer write if transferred from the computer to the NUVI 1460...

In frustration, I had reverted to the version 2.30 (YES, you can revert the firmware, it even warned me that all user data will be erased!!!) I recopied the original files I backed up when I bought it new into the machine... Now I have just reverted back to Ver 2.60 and still waiting for something to happen from Garmin....

Sorry, I am sticking to my words - the NUVI1460 is a bleeding lemon and it still is!
