This will not only stop the speed trap alert but also all alerts related to custom POI.

No it doesn't disturb my mood during my fast drives. In fact I feel it is useful to warn me of the speed trap spots or the next RSA. I've paid too much in speeding fines. The savings by these alerts gives me more money for a Garmin upgrade. Oh BTW, I much faster than 120-130 on the highways and teh alert is not a bother cos it is not all the time.

Hi all members and guest,

I have a 205W US unit with 1GB internal storage space, meanwhile i had copied some maps, POI (from this forum) and POI from Garmin Taiwan website before and the total storage space reached 900MB++ for quite some times.

However, later when i try to free some space by deleting some unused maps, i found that the storage space is not being free up (still remain 900MB++) even i had deleted few more maps.

I had tried to do a reset method pressing the reset button at the bottom, also another reset method by holding the Power On button for few second and pressing one of the corner of the screen to restore to factory default, but all also not help. The steps above just removed all my data only.

I have no solution on this, later then i tried to delete the POI downloaded from Garmin Taiwan website from the internal storage memory, this time i noticed that some space is being free up. I suspect the POI file is the root cause, however, i still cannot resolve my earlier problem (It remained 800MB++ shown in the internal storage, but actually total files were 200MB++).

Then i decided to FORMAT my unit in windows XP, and before that i had backup all datas including hidden files from the Garmin unit. After formatted the unit, i copy back the backup file to the unit and reboot and the unit works flawless.

Above is my sharing among the members here.

Hi,

I have a 205W with software version 5.1. I like to downgrade to version 5.0 as I find that the unit was not able to detect more than 4 or 5 satellites whereas the previous version could detect the 8 ~ 10 satellites at any one time.

Can someone suggest how do I locate the software as I could not find it here?

Thanks for sharing. Just to verify, did you just format it like formatting a USB thumbdrive?

Yes, you are right. A very straight forward step.
