But, that is considered as hacking or cracking... mmmm..

Go mfm go... My instinct tells me that the mfm soon will have the JCV and Lane Assist :)

As my post on Nuvi 760 thread, I also recreate service firmware; the rgn file for 765 TWN, similar to the rgn which PouchX version. The different is, during booting, the recreated firmware will not display the PouchX at the bottom of the screen anymore. Instead, it shows the original Loading maps, and it {Passed the ROM test on the diagnostics page/screen.

For those who interested, please PM me. :)

Edit:
Here are the differences between my generated rgn and PouchX's. Offsets are in decimal, values are in octal Now you change/replace it to your name, ... :) There still several bytes different, which I don't know what the purpose of it.

Code: Select all

$ cmp -lb PouchX.rgn my.rgn

It will very cool indeed :).. I also want to be that kind of Mahaguru level hacker, but unfortunately, my skills are very limited. Actually to create the RGN from GUPDATE.GCD is easy with the proper tools. The steps are already in Internet. I don't know whether it is possible to post that kind of HOWTO/guide in malfreemaps.

Thank you.
