Re: Garmin Nuvi 1450 / 1460 - battery change
Hi
my NUVI 1460 is due for a battery replacement, I found this Utube video clip here here here hereis extremely useful on how to open up the unit to change the battery.... only thing is that I have to find the battery first.
On second thought, I called AECO in Kuala Lumpur, they told me that I can have my battery changed for RM180.00 - they require 1 week to do it.
So now it is the cost versus the convenience..........

My 765 has near dead batteries but I still can use it in car through the Garmin car charger.
If I need to depend on batteries, I use an external battery pack which doubles as a charger for my phone

Tried that with my 1460 when in Italy and New Zealand.. was definitely not a joy to carry an extra battery which has a connector and cable linking them together. Anyway with a good battery and the extra charger, I can have a total of some 6-7 hours of use instead of about 3-4 with a dead battery inside the 1460..

1460 Nag screen
I installed the custom POIs in the SD card. After the unit boots up, a nag screen will appear with the words: "New Extras data found on card. Would you like to install this data........" I chose no.
Is there a way to disable this annoyance from reappearing every time the unit is used. Any advice/suggestion?
Many thanks in advance.
