1) how reliable the altimeter in 60csx? once i took the elevation at same point but different time, the elevation was different

2) can anyone help me with map for sarawak area...i cant find a good one

1- u need to calibrate the altimeter first. What i normally do, go to beach, calibrate sea level as 0 meter. Accuracy wise, u need to understand that GPS use calculation based on 3D gps signal, so roughly its ok. If u really need accuracy, then use convention method.

2- Sarawak map, in terms of coverage, u can try MSM, but accuracy, I found many places not correct in terms of road names, routing, and old POIs. MFM is good enough for Miri city area. Outskirt Miri, please use ur 60csx to track and submit here  .

If u r into outdoor activity, why not try combine MFM with topo map.

Broken battery contact in Garmin 60CSx

Postby d90 » Tue Apr 06, 2010 12:47 pm

Hi all,

I'm having some problem with my 60CSx as the battery holder terminal is broken.

I've taken it back to eastgear and was told that the replacement is over $200. Now it's just a tiny piece of metal and it's going to cost over $200? doesn't sound right.

Hence, i'd like to know if anyone has a solution to it as it's the lower terminal that is broken not the one which feeds the power to the main board.

I've fixed it temporary by wedging a piece of the broken terminal within the battery to make the contact, however, it's not going to be ideal when it drops out when you're on the trail and you have no idea where it went and you can't get the gps working to take you back to camp. ](*,)

Thanks!
Andrew

Sorry to hear of your problem. Can you solder it back? There must be contact pins out there that can fit the application.... $200 is too much.

Do you have a picture of the contact area? Post it here to see if anyone can help.
