Good day to fellow Garmin 3790 users!
I am trying to set my customised splash screen to my unit in the horizontal manner but to no avail. Seems like the splash screen can only appear in a potrait manner. Any senior can help?

P/S Where can I get free Taiwan maps? Been search and google-ing but just can't find one that work... Thank you!

:)

Hi bro cruxify, the auto tilt does not support auto picture rotate.

As for Taiwan maps, there is no 3rd party free community maps for Taiwan. The official Taiwan map is pretty good and very detail. It is available in traditional Chinese or in English Pin Yin format from Garmin Taiwan.

We in Singapore and Malaysia are lucky to have two community maps available for free, the result of enthusiastic hobbyists

Hi,
Thank you for your reply and advice. Been trying to figure out how to settle my splash screen. Hmm.. miss my Garmin 1350 which displayed the expressway exits before my destinated exit. Well well... voice command is very useful too. Thanks again!

Your 3790T should display expressway exits before destination exit ... Mine does ...

Hi,
Have realised it did not display that. Don't remember setting anything for this. For the part on which lane to remain on, I am using the top left arrows to see which lane I should keep. Updated the software but no changes... sigh.

Maybe it was in hidden mode. Do a simulation mode onto a highway, lookout for the small little icon of a highway with a side road. See picture attached, it is on lower right corner of screen, Press this to bring up the display.

Bro silverbeauty,

My old Nuvi 360 is going on the blink and I am considering the 3790 as a replacement. Given the earlier teething problems that you have been through, would you still recommend this?

Also, can this unit take multiple maps like the 1460?

Thanks much.

Bro coolerbok, the 3790T is a nice GPS with great new features but I suggest you hold off your purchase until they taken out the infancy problems.

You are stuck with Garmin NT maps and MSM NT maps until they fix the firmware. For not cannot use CGS Mapper generated MSM / MFM maps as roads lines are hidden behind polygons

I have not tried other 3rd party maps but I suspect, navaigasi, Roweiler, Philippines road guide also same situation .....

And to answer your last question, yes it works like the 1460 in which you can put whatever name maps into the /map directory and fill it up to memory capacity ....

Bro Silver, do you mean if the polygons are excluded when generating the map, the roads would be visible?
I take everything in moderation, including moderation.

Thanks very much, Bro Silverbeauty. Very sound advice - I'll hang onto my 360 until it gives up the spirit completely.
