The Nuvi 2465 (New Model)

Postby Redstorm » Fri Mar 25, 2011 10:14 pm

The new Nuvi 2465 Sg/My version will make its debut in Singapore at the Great Electronic Bazaar from 8 Apr 11 to 10 Apr 11 and later at the PIKOM Fair in KL, Malaysia from 15 Apr 11 to 17 Apr 11. I understand it will be selling for below S$300 and boast many features which hithero are found in only higher end models like the 3790. You can expect features like Live Traffic Avoidane (Sg only), Trip Planner, Voice Activation, Compass, Hands Free Calling, etc.

Garmin Nuvi 2465

Postby netken » Mon Apr 18, 2011 9:20 am

Hi there is anyone using this model?

I can't see the directory where the gmapsupp is kept unlike my previous older Nuvi 600 which i am replacing. ](*,)

Kinda miss my old but still working Nuvi 600 but of late its been lagging too much, hence the replacement.

Bought this 2465 at Garmin booth yesterday at PC Fair. :ko:

Hope to receive comments on how to use this new device. :prayer:

New series work differently from the older 600 series...

Create a /map directory in your SD card and put the map file gmapsupp.img into it. Rename the file into any name you want ie.. MFM110418 ...

how about putting in multiple maps inside the primary directory?

is that possible? e.g. gmapsupp, gmaptz, etc?

thanks!

I just bought the nuvi 2465 from pc fair. Nice to use but have not able to get MFM into it. Will explore more. How can we merge MFM and MSM map with JCV? Don;t really like MSM coz it is truly outdated. Can;t even see the new road behind my house which is very crucial.
Thanks to mfm.

I already mentioned that newer 1xxx, 2xxx and 3xxx series behave differently from the older 2xx, 3xx, 4xx, 5xx, 6xx, 7xx, 8xx series .....

For newer series, it offers you flexibility for multiple maps. All you need to do is put the Garmin format map into /map directory and rename the gmapsupp.img into any file name you want. The number of maps in the /map directory is the limit of the memory capacity of the SD card.

This is also valid for maps put into Main Memory /map.

BUT we highly recommend NEWBIES to use the SD card for storage / update of maps as the Nuvi is very UNFORGIVING to any map corruption which results in it being BRICKED ( it loops forever in loading map ) With SD card map corruption, you just remove the SD card and delete the "corrupted" map

Why merge when both maps can co-exist in the unit ? You can choose which map you want to use and maximize your experience with features available in one version that is not available in the other version ? The choice is yours ...

See my "post" two post above this one on how to do it ...
