indrapr wrote:I have just bought a Garmin Nuvi 2565LM today, and found out that there are 3 maps preloaded on the device: MFM 2012.10, MSM 2011.40 and CN 2011.40. May I know on whether we can add new map, e.g. MFM latest map or Indonesia Navigasi map into the device, without SD card?

I have connected the device in mass storage mode, but the "Garmin" folder doesn't contain any maps. I found a "map" folder but it only has one gmapsupp.img file with a gmapsupp.sum file, instead of three files. Is Garmin combining all the maps (MFM, MSM, CN maps) into one single gmapsupp.img?

To which folder I need to copy the new map into, and what is the filename?

Yes, I believe you can add as many maps as your internal storage allows.

Just put the new maps in to the MAP folder using any filename you wish (ending with img extension), eg. mfm.img.

Thanks for all the advise.

I decided to follow Ace's advise and have just bought a new microSD card from Challenger during lunch time earlier. Let's see how it goes. ;)

Thanks.

OK, I put the two maps as follows:

MFM 120305 - gmapprom.img on /Garmin folder on microSD card
Navigasi v2.21 - gmapsupp.img on /Garmin folder on microSD card

But the Nuvi only recognised the Navigasi map (gmapsupp.img). Seems that gmapprom.img is not recognised by the Nuvi device.

Any advice on how to make the Nuvi to detect two maps on the microSD card?

Thanks in advance.

Create a \map directory in the SD card.

Move the MFM_120305.img file as is to the \map directory..... not as gmapprom.img.

By the way, if you have two versions of the same map in your device, the earlier version wins.....Don't ask me why, I also dunno, it's like that one..

You can move the Navigasi map to the map directory as well as Navi123456.img or whatever.img

Leave the Garmin directory empty.... :-$

Thanks ace, your advice works. Now the Nuvi recognises both maps.

One slight issue, if I just enable the MFM 120305 (and its POI) and disable other maps, then the map will appear without the roads. What could be the problem?

You can only view one map at a time either Garmin-MFM or MFM version map. On both together will result of blank map viewing.

Cheers!

In my 2565, MFM map will not show the road unless I zoom out to 800m. This is a known issue, I dont know does 2565LM inherit the same problem as 2565. However you won't have the problem is you use MFM map compiled by Garmin.

Both of you need to read the instruction carefully when generating the map. #-o

Have regenerated the gmapsupp.img to exclude the polygons as recommended by bro OngCC and yes, now I can see the roads when zooming in. But I miss the nice and colourful polygons. :(

I guess I'll stick with MFM NT 2012.10 for the time being, in any case, it's only 2 months difference in terms of the update.

ace, you have been a great help today for me to understand this new device. Million of thanks. :)
