why compass all point to different direction?

THe arrows are for pointing you in the direction you're supposed to go; not to point to true/magnetic north.

I heard the Oregon is going for RM$2500. And that's the oregon 300, not the 550.

UPDATED : 11 FEB 2010

It's finally arrived via E-BAY! :peace: Dakota 20 for RM$1200+ !!! Let the games begin!! =D>

Went to Low Yatt yesterday and the best price was RM1,350.00..emm to buy or not to buy.

I'll point out to you 3 facts...

1) Its cheaper than Aeco or the other Garmin sellers are selling at RM$1700+

2) Its only RM$100 more than mine on EBAY.

3) What's your position on warranty? would you like it or not?

One big disadvantage (to me personally and in one review I read) for the Oregon (and I presume it is the same for the Dakota) is that when you need to mark a waypoint, you will need to get out from the map, press the "Mark Waypoint" icon , Save and then go back to the map again. So it is a total of 4 steps for each waypoint you need to mark.

For the 60 CSx, you only need to "Mark" and "Enter". Imagine you have to mark 30 waypoints for a housing area.

So, for tracking, bo sui lah. I still prefer my 60 CSx. The Oregon is a "lifestyle" GPS.

Not really; u no need to go out of map to mark the waypoint. Can tap on screen also can. But i agree; its 2 steps too many extra for u :) THat's the price We pay for a touch screen device. Its great though for me to take on holidays outstation/overseas.

So anyway i'm attaching a track from a hike i did in Bkt Gasing 2 days ago. You lemme know if this is good or bad. Checked i sometimes get 30ft accuracy from the device when moving.

Hi Bro Wearwolf,

I tried it but found that it is even worse. There are 5 steps involved when tapping on the screen. First, you tap on the location you want to mark. One big disadvantage is that you cannot mark the exact point especially when you are driving or riding a bike or bicycle. Then you tap on the point shown on the screen that you have just marked. Third, you press "Save". Then press "OK". Fifth, press return to go back to the map. Not so good leh!!

The Latest version right now is;
Software Version - 2.70
GPS Software Versing - 3.70

So here's a wonderful thing i've found out. You're not limited to the GMAPPROM and GMAPSUPP filename =P~

Now can use Thailand.img; MFM01xxxx.img ; MSMxxxx.img ; GMAPSUPP.img ; GMAPSUP1.img ....... =P~

The problem however is that if you run BOTH MFM and MSM maps; the Dakota will read BOTH POI databases :fire:

Same problem i have with my GMXT........

Will have to file a report to Garmin about this.....
