Have you reconfirm your maps instead of pinpointing to the firmware? Re-down the maps or use a different maps, also remove all your custom POIs and do a reset. Your 1st download maybe corrupted.... cheers!

Can try writing to "Marketing.Asia@garmin.com" instead.

I'm currently still in contact with them at this e-mail address on some issues with nuvi 765.

Garmin NUVI 1460 - is it device hardware problem or software

Postby gsiew72 » Sun Oct 04, 2009 7:23 pm

Hi, I'm relatively new to GPS. Was very excited when I purchased my first unit of NUVI 1460. Unfortunately, the followings are the problems I encountered:
1) when i do a search for street address, sometimes the street will appear, sometimes will appear non relevant street
2) when i do search for street address, the unit will sometimes reboot and sometimes will not reboot
3) when i do search for street address, the unit will shut down
4) while exploring some buttons, the unit will shut down after a while
5) the keypad seems to be not accurate i.e. if I press the "back page" button, it will select the item just above the "back page" button
6) I'm using the bluetooth function with my Sony Ericsson phone. After I shut the unit, my phone will not work anymore and need to restart my phone

Does anyone got this problem as well?
I talked to the authorised dealer that sold me the unit and he tested a couple of new units which have this restart problem Apparently, he is still new to this unit.
He suggested I change to 765 which I don't feel good as I like the big screen of 1460. He then suggested I wait for 2 weeks for him to find a solution.

Please kindly advise. Can this problem be fixed? I really like this unit and not the 765.

Thanks!

From the map info, i got the followings:
1) Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.30 [1] MSM
2) City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT2009.30
[1] SGP_MYS_NT_TA200907_JCV2009.30

Not sure if this is what you are asking me. Thanks for helping.

Hi,
do you have MSN or something that can chat online? I'm still troubled over whether should change another unit or should just wait. I actually don't mind waiting for another month or so. But not sure if there will be any fix by then. Thanks!

Using multiple maps at one moment? Uncheck other maps and use only 1 map. See if it improves.
Also, you may want to perform a full reset (backup first, else you will lose all your saved POIs) and then use it, give it some time to stabilize.

I encounter similar with even Nuvi 205W and 255W which should be rather stable. Well, what I did to fix it is to clear off those .sum (assume it's checksum files) in Voice folder and Garmin folder, then perform a full reset and then re-configure it as though it's new. After awhile, it stabilize and no more issues like those you described.

Hi, I've tried uncheck and only using 1 map now. Still giving same problem.

I do not know how to perform a full reset as I've just bought the unit.

Any advice? Thanks!
