Hi silver,
Yeah, I changed the filename to avoid conflict. I'm confident that the map loaded correctly, since going into Info I can see the various map, and changing it between MFM and the default one, I can see the difference (the polygons for the houses and stuff). Yes, I tried zoom down to 30m and theres still nothing. Map detail I tried all High to Low, no difference.

One more thing...can someone confirm, just try Point of Interest, try searching for Tesco/ Tesco Kepong and see if it pops up? I can see it on the map as below, but I cannot search it. Weird.

Re: Free Malaysia & Singapore GPS Map: MFM-Garmin 110228

I have some issues with nuvi 1460 (with latest 2.8 firmware) and the unit tends to reboot while calculating new routes. Never had that problem on my older nuvi 205 before. I have disabled all the built-in maps (namely, gmaprom.img & gmaprom1.img) and only put MFM-110228 in the internal memory /MAP folder.

Any ideas here?

I have moved your post to relevant thread in GPS devices Nuvi 1460

Do you experience the problem only with MFM map only or also with NavteQ and / or MSM NT maps ?

Read the post several pages back of this thread for experience of other users ....

So far, only MFM maps. I disabled MSM maps because it is not up-to-date.

Just few hours ago, I reinstall MFM-110228 without POI for 765 / 1460 and coloured polygons. Will try again later.

Nuvi 14xx series has historical instability with some maps. The earlier post in this thread testifies to it :-'

My 3790 when "launched" had this resetting problem during navigation, keeps resetting at certain road locations ](*,) ... until a Garmin firmware revision fix it ....

MFM maps wrongly created

Postby wong01 » Tue Mar 08, 2011 1:27 pm

I am a 1 week old Garmin 1460 owner. I have followed all the instructions in the newbie section to create MFM maps. I even ticked the box "Enable custom icon display for nuvi 765, 1460,etc" and the gmapsupp.img was successfully created and for ' do you want to copy it into your gps......", I chose 'no'.
When I checked my C:\Garmin\malfreemap folder, I could see a gmapsupp name but the icon was a WinZip icon, not the little globe(?) icon as shown in the illustration in MFM-Garmin Installation Step by Step Guide.
Where have I gone wrong. Grateful for help. Many thanks in advance.

the icon is not important. Is the file name extension "img" ?

I uninstalled WinZip and the icon has changed to a little box with a .img extenstion. I had this copied to my SD card but my nuvi 1460 is unable to read it and it is not shown in the Settings,Map, Info section.
Grateful for further help.

have you created a folder "MAP" in your sdcard ?

all the "img' files must be parked in that folder O:)

Thank you very much for your invaluable advice. I parked all the img in the folder and the Map is now readable by nuvi 1460. Once again, many thanks.
