well, newbies when looking to buy their first GPS will read the specs and think "so old!" and won't buy...

a lot of products, the good points about it hard to quantify and advertise. so manufacturer no choice have to get on the treadmill and make "newer" and "faster" and "better" products

i am worried, my 255W screen is not as bright now, i am worried the day will come i can only use it at night... :-(

er... I listened to the voice command.... usually follow the voice direction unless it tells me to go straight and in front is a cliff.

Now I used it sparingly.. to extend it useful life.

Guys believe me... the newer unit so much better... My 205W is only for spare and the Nuvi300 looking for a muzium.

Thnings I like on the newer units:
- The unit don't lags
- Screen brightness.
- Anyname Map filename.
Common Sense Is Not Common.

I agree with Bro Moey and you will not regret mothballing the 255 which, if I remember correctly, was the first entry-level model to incorporate the new features hence is sort of experimental. The newer models (even entry-level models) are so much better.

I am waiting for Nuvis with GPS and Glonass capabilities. Currently only my Etrex 30 can receive both the American satellite signals and Russian simultaneously. There is no real reason to hang on to obsolete models as new models are so much cheaper (and better) than what you paid for the old models.

newer model not necessarily better. I find on a 2465 need to tap too many times to get functions I want to use - the "simpler" 255 much faster to use (even if software keyboard a bit laggy. but i don't use that as often). 2465 gets satellite lock faster, but my 255 seem more "stable" - lose lock less often (or maybe is so slow that it doesn't know when it's lost lock haha... but the end effect is the same and I like it). very scary to be in a place I don't know and then "Lost Satellite Reception".
