Unable to load maps into Nuvi 1350

Postby jjtan33 » Thu Dec 10, 2009 12:10 am

All bosses,

I have and issues to find the maps that I have uploaded to my Garmin device into the directory /garmin/. When I try to search for available maps in the Garmin device software, there is no such map in the software.
I can see that gmapsupp.img is in the directory /garmin/.

I have even tried to load it into the hidden directory /.system/. It is still the same.
Please let me know if anyone have the same issue with resolutions.
Thank You.

Best Regards,
JJ The Noob!!

Bro jjtan33, what map are you trying to load into your Nuvi?

Do suspect a non Garmin compliant gmapsupp.img or a corrupted one.

if you put the map on memory card, you should upload the map under /garmin/ with gmapsupp.img file name. It will work, and remember disable the preloaded map, in order to get MFM work.

Having the voice file is one thing. Whether the firmware supports it or not is another thing.

In the past, I was able to just copy the voice file e.g. Hokkien, from the first unit and dump it into the second unit. The second unit did not support this voice file in the sense that Hokkien did not appear in the list of languages. Instead, it replaced one of the other languages. But when you choose that language, the device uses Hokkien. I don't know whether this works with the new Nuvis. I guess no harm trying if you don't mind this.

Have anyone noticed that the Malfree customised POIs are not visible during navigation for the Nuvi 1350?

In addition, your favourites only shows the icon but not the POI names during navigation. Very different than the Nuvi 255W. Somehow, the 255W will display the customised POI and also the POI Names but not the 1350.

Help any solutions?

Showing or not showing POI is sometimes dependent on respective firmware of the Nuvis ......
