Here is a copy of brochure as distributed by Garmin distributor during the recently concluded SITEX show in Singapore

My personal views :
1460 does not have hot undock vs 765
1460 has bigger screen vs 765
1460 can put more preloaded maps and can use you own naming termnilogy

The windscreen mount, for 765, you just dock your unit to it. To remove, you press a latch lever and the Nuvi pops out. Power cable is attached to windscreen mount. See attached picture for example of a "hot" mount. Notice the power cable mounted on its right. So very convenient to remove/attach Nuvi to mount.

For 1465, you mount Nuvi onto windscreen mount but have to manually attach the mini USB cable to charge unit. When remove, manually remove the USB.

3xx series, 6xx series & 7xx series have the usb casble attach to the cradle. how come your 360 have to remove the usb cable before you remove the unit from the cradle. i'm using a 350 and the usb cable were attach to the cradle. check your cradle, there's a place to plug in the usb cable. it's more convenient to use this type of cradle. garmin discontinue this cradle for newer series perhaps 1) to cut production cost 2) to make the nuvi unit slimmer (thinner). i just bought a 760 (us set) just because i like the cradle which the 1460 don't have. the 760 when removed from the cradle, will automatically save the location where you park your car so you can find it easily later. only for outdoor parking where satelites signal can be receiced.

Nuvi 300 series mount with "hot" dock/undock feature. As extracted from manual.

Mini USB car charger end plugs onto cradle NOT onto Nuvi USB port.

What about the screen/map refresh on the 765? I've seen the 1460 screen refresh. It's very smooth when I compare it to my 760 which is jerky. (exactly the same map used side by side).
