Hi need some help again...
I had downloaded and installed Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.40 (2009-11). But to my surprise, i can't get the JCV and LA working.... any idea?
I can only see the compass and the MSM orb. TTS is working fine.
Oh i installed the wrong one? Can someone share the link?

Bro, you must be confused. You're posting in the wrong forum. You should be asking this in MSM. This is MFM.

Ya i know.... i doesn't like MSM at all but unfortunately there are the only maps the have JCV and LA available. I just want to test out whether JCV and LA works on my converted US 205W MAL/SIN 2W.
Yours one working? You have any idea how to make it works?
thanks in advance bro !

Tried it. Didn't like it. Think it is not worth it.
Went back to and stayed with US version firmware with MFM without JCV and LA.

Anyway you sure it's not working. Check in your ...Garmin/JCV... folder in your device. If you have installed MSM correctly, there should be a file named SGMYMAL.JCV.
Now go to a go to a location where there is a JCV picture and see if the picture comes up. Not all junctions have junction view.

Re: Converting Nuvi 255W US Firmware to MAL/SIN Firmware
OK, I'm new here and I need to ask a noob question. I've read through this thread a few times now and I'm confused about one thing, use of the TTS voices. I'm thinking about flashing my 255W HWID 0827, S3 main board to a SigMal setup. I'm pretty sure I understand what to do and what not to do. But I'm a bit confused after reading chaicka's comments, from pg 21, about using TTS voices with a 255W. They appear to be the 2mb vpm (non-TTS) voices not the 14mb TTS voices.
I thought one of the big reasons people are flashing to SigMal is to be able to use the 14 mb TTS voices? Yes, I read the part about some getting LA and JCV or some combination with or without exit preview depending on the country etc. I'm only questioning the TTS voices problem.
Chaicka flashed to SigMal operation and then shows a screen shot of the diagnostic screen that shows him using 2mb vpm voices (those specific to work with the Asian software) which I understand are really not TTS voices at all but composite wave files in the vpm format. So what is the gain here? Is it just the LA and JCV options gained?
The TTS voices are approx. 12-14mb or so. Even tho my new 255W displays (TTS) after the voice names they are really the 2 mb VPM (NON TTL) voices and not the 14mb TTS voices.
In conclusion I don't see what the advantage is concerning the voices if after the series of flashings you're still using the .vpm voices. Can anyone clear up my confusion? What am I missing here? Thanks!!

I am not sure about the 2mb or 14mb files. What's gain from the conversion (PeterK's post, courtesy of EarthKeeper) are JCV/LA and TTS.
Previously, the unconverted 205W does not have TTS capability. Now, the coverted 205W has TTS capability and is using voice files released in 255W (SG/MY) firmware package (where possible/available). Although pronounication of some street names sound weird (eg. Toa Payoh pronounced as T. O. A. Pay-oh by the TTS), at least it is no longer just turn left turn right direction voice.

Bro, I think I did mention 205W, not 255W.
