Yes, your requirement is different from the way I operated my PDA/GPSr pair.

Right now, you have to manually start the PDA BT which will pair with an already power ON GPSr and then manually start the GMXT.

If you follow my suggestion (asssuming paired successfully and turn OFF GPSr while the PDA BT is still ON) , that is, turn your PDA ON (if it is not ON) first, then, start your car (which will power ON the GPSr). With this sequence, the GPSr will trigger PDA to start the BT automatically and they will pair themselves. Once you notice the blue indicator on the PDA is ON, then, manually invoke GMXT. In this way, at least you can save the BT pairing process. Of course, it is still one step more than operating a dedicated navigation device/appliance.
When you stop driving, just turn off the car engine which will power off the GPSr and the PDA BT will turn OFF itself automatically.
To my knowledge, I don't think at the moment WM5/6 has a function to automatically invoking GMXT (or any user program).

I am using HOLUX GPSlim 236 BT GPSr paired to my pda HP iPAQ rw6828 running WM5. Normally I would switch on the GPSr unit 1st, wait for it to acquire a satelite fix and the BT running before I switch on the GMXT on my PDA. After switching on GMXT and onnce pass the licence agreement GMXT will automatically switch on the BT on the PDA and paired with the GPSr. Same thing happens when switching off GMXT, it will automatically switch off the BT on the pda.

I can't remember what I did exactly to achieve this automatic switch on and off, but I think you need to do some setting on the pda. After that the 1st time you run the GMXT with the GPSr, you need to set up GMXT to look for the GPSr - I think you have to set the GPSr in a fixed COM setting and the BT to run under serial port setting.

I will try to remember what I did and put it up here.

If i am not wrong, there is a setting in the GMXT software to set turnoff the receiver when you quit GMXT, but that is when i am pairing with garmin 10x receiver, not too sure with thosee "cheong" one..... :-$ :-'

No, mine is the stand alone GMXT which I downloaded and then used under trial. funny thing, the trial period is supposed to be for 14 days only but I have been using it since early August 09 and there have no been any bug to ask me to register or get a full version.

The setting you mentioned does not come with my trial version. During the installation, the GMXT auto-detected my BT GPSr in the virtual COM port which I had set the GPSr to use and asked if this is the GPSr I want to use and the COM, replied yes, yes and since then I did not have to manually switched on the pda BT.

Oh another thing, the setting for the BT on my pda, it is actually from the other side - the one which cannot be name MxM - will I be breaking any rules if I re-post the settings here? I don't want MFM to get into trouble because this issue.... any administrator can enlighten me on this issue?

bro, no money to buy pro GPS tracking device. I use GMXT to collect POI, use Nokia sport tracker to track route (i track to route to the Thailand highest point, with rented Honda Wave 100 motorbike and a N82 in hand) this still alive..................

last night go walk around recollect most of the POI again

bro tanseehua,

the cause might be ur sd card is full or nearly full (of ur photos, music etc) or u had experiencing power failure (battery kong) beforehand that make n82 reset itself. better u back up all ur photos to thumb drive, pc etc to free up space in ur sd card.

ur tracks & pois is very important lor :prayer: :-'
