everything is fine. copied over the sing/mal voices too. thanks a lot peterK for the guide and tips.

EDIT: can i use webupdater to update maps or softwares after this flash? will it auto flash back to the US firmware?

DO NOT use WebUpdater anymore after conversion to SG/MY firmware. Doing so will most likely brick the device since the voice/text files are not compatible (Asian Voice/Text are not compatible with US firmware, likewise for the other way round).

Esp. for this S4 conversion. It combines Boot BLK & X-Loader of US v5.30 and System Software of SG/MY v2.70, thus when using WebUpdater, it will most likely recognize it as US device and will attempt to get the US voice/text files. After that, next time you boot cycle the device, it will most likely detect incompatibility and then device no longer operates normally (eg. white screen, repeat loading cycle or other issues).

Managed to flash my S4 255w. Instructions worked like a charm. Just remember to use the correct 'patched' rgn for the newer S4 255w.

THANKS!

Hi sorry to side-track abit, anyone knows where to get the plastic tool thingy to pry open the Garmin gps? I have a spoilt 205w, feel like prying the case open to find out more about the internals of the Nuvi.

cheers!

Hi to all sifus,

I have successfully flashed my US set into SgMy ver2.70. However I couldn't get the JCV and LA works in my 255W.
wondering which map that you used in your 255w with JCV feature. Pls provide download guidance.

Appreciate your kind advice.

Thanks,
Kev

Hi ickevin,

Welcome to mfm.

Garmin maps by mfm does not (yet) support Junction View and Lane Assist. Currently only mfm Papago map has those features. In the mean time, feel free to browse through the Newbie Lounge and Library for tips and advice.

I'm wondering, should I take the risk and flash US set to MY/SG firmware?
Any suggestion?

I know I'll gain lane assist, junction view..but what will I lose other than ecoRoute?
