Converting Nuvi 2x5W Firmware to MAL/SIN Firmware

i just got my Garmin 255W US unit.
software Version 5.3
Board is S4.

anyone can help me localise?? or maybe guide me.. i read the post i blur already..since S4 will brick i lagi scared.

Why do you want to "localise" it so soon?

Use it, enjoy it and get familiar with it first.

Localising it will not bring anything extra cos JCV will not be there with MFM, LA is on trials with the other maps. Doing it will only void the warranty.

just wanted to try it out for fun.. but i agree with what u say. maybe just play with it first.

actually which maps are better? i am using the malsing map i find the POI not that many for food. is Malfree maps better?

and i noticed if i wanna find a certain jalan i type the street name out, it says no such road name...strange? how come ah?

Please read the other posts here, to avoid repeating the obvious and asking a question that is well discussed.

MFM does not have JV for the Garmin platform at this current moment. There is JCV and 3D building for Papago.

Hi Sifus,

I cant seem to get to the loader on the Garmin Screen. I have pressed and held the power button for a very long time but I still do not see any usb devices in the updater.

My unit is a us version s2 with 6.00 firmware.

I have tried going to the diagnostics mode and the updater can detect the usb device but when i tried to update it comes out with an error message stating that the unit is not in a Host mode.

Any advice.

willgoh, garmin changed the way to access the pre-boot mode since v5.70.

Try turning the unit off. Then press and hold the upper left corner of the screen, then plug in the usb cable.

I had success convert my 205w to 2w and view the junction view,yeah
althrough my 205w is local genuine set and warranty not expired yet.
but can wait to try.

1) it;s show "cant unlock map" when the GPS everytime opened.

2)the logo when start the gps ,cant remove it?

Seems that there is a locked IMG file which is unable to be unlocked in Nuvi. Either remove this IMG file or use correct unlock code in Nuvi.

The Garmin logo will still appear eventhough you have set an image as a startup splash screen.
