Bro, maybe that little section on the KPE road in our maps, may not be the culprit to affect the navigation on my GMXT. That's because I managed to navigate through on 3 separate occasions and today is the 4th, despite that gap in the map. Also, my 76CSx navigates through at all times without a problem.

That irks me, not because I'll be lost at the KPE if navigation stops, far from it, as I drive that route every morning, and my wife often thinks I'm Bo Liao (nothing better to do) to turn on GMXT on a familiar road. But rather, because it seem to be a bug, that comes on and off, be it in our maps, in my GPSr transponder (as mentioned by Cruiser) or in my GMXT.

So I'm resolved to get to the bottom of this, as a form of my tiny contribution to this forum's excellent knowledge database.

What i'm going to do next is to view the satellite status display instead of the route. If I exit the tunnel and I have 3-4 satellites in the inner circle and navigation continues, but if satellites are all on the horizon and navigation fails, I will know that it is a receiver problem on my set and will need an external antenna.

Meanwhile, it's testing I will do, and report my findings back to you chaps.

Actually, I have been playing with MapSource and nuvi for some times before reaching to this method.

Some of the harmless tracks on the map might be problematic. An old example here.

Yes, it's the same issue we're facing.

Although I agree with Zeus73 that the easiest solution is to remove that short unopened section of KPE, I'm just curious to find out what it takes to leave that in place, but still get the problem fixed, because I don't ever have any problem of this sort using a 76CSx, and occassionally, it's OK on my GMXT.

Going by that, I'm sure, if those few ingredients are met, GMXT will reliably navigate through. That's what I'm doing through my daily testing now.

An update:
Yesterday, had no problem encountered.
Today, N95 had no problem, but N96 stopped. Satellites were mainly on the horizon to the inner circle's circumference. No satellites were within the inner circle.

Actually, there's other solutions. But I think updating of maps is fastest and most cost effective. Also, it's something that can easily be done at MFM's side.

Some other options I can think of :-

Install re-radiating antenna/external antenna - So everyone facing this issue willing to pay for one? Also, not sure of the effectiveness.

Improve satellites signal strength - I think we can't control this. Can someone call U.S. Department of Defense?

Avoid underground tunnels - GPS is not designed for underground tunnels in the first place.

Lastly, live with it.
