Here: http://www.sendspace.com/file/ndovqf

Also this updater (v2.80) includes additional updates (text and voice files), so if you need to install the updates as well, extract the installer and copy over \Garmin\Text and \Garmin\Voice folders into Nuvi. If you don't have the firmware updater yet, get it here: http://download.garmin.com/sg/download/ ... G_v280.exe

I just need to follow the same method like how I flash my unit to 2.7? drag this 2.8 RGN to updater? Need to hard reset and remove anything before start?

It's actually not recommended to drag n drop. If RGN name corresponds with unit HWID, just execute Updater.exe (RGN should be in the same folder, and make sure only that RGN exists). As for voice files, no need to remove any (if you're already using Sing/Mal firmware and unit is working). Hard reset is recommended, before and especially after firmware update.

Failed to do that...... when PC detect my device, I click "ok" on the updater, but pop up a msg saying that "No updates are available for your product"

I am just curious, yesterday I tried to double click on the nuvi255W_SG_v280.exe, there is sth copying to my device like GUPDATE.GCD, voice files..... but after done, when I plug up the USB, it doesnt update my unit to 2.8.

Try removing GUPDATE.GCD from Nuvi, and repeat same steps, and if still not successful, repeat steps but rename RGN to any name (ie. NUVI.RGN) and use drag n drop method.

I think you have S4 board Nuvi 255W, Your nuvi presently with modified SgMy firmware v2.70, which using US Boot Block and X-loader merge with SgMY firmware system, that's why it without the white screen problem. Of course, Modified firmware will not recognize the latest firmware v2.80 GCD file. you may check your Nuvi inventory.

I already remove the GUPDATE.GCD, but still cannot.
Is this because of S4 board?

JohnTan,
Do you mean S4 board couldn't upgrade to 2.8 and only we can do that if we have US Boot Block and X-loader merge with SgMY 2.8 firmware system? Just like the file I used to flash my US firmware to SgMy 2.7. right?

I think peterK mentioned this before. But I didn't see anyone share this file yet, have to wait see anyone post it in future or not.
Anyway, JohnTan and dvpro, thanks for your input and help.

By the way, what is the feature gain by upgrade to 2.8?

1. Synchronize to English v5.30.
2. Update GPS firmware to v3.90.
