Any version would do, and there is actually a few workarounds for this issue, one of it is explained in this topic from the library: How to install Garmin Mapsource

still no luck bro... the maps doesn't load.. here is my procedure

Install Garmin Mobile PC ver500.50
Update to GMPC ver500.60
Install MFM (latest version)
Lastly MapSource (latest version)

so, do i need to convert or patch something from MFM to MapSource so the maps *.img is usable for GMPC? By the way, i can view/edit the map from MapSource, but funny not on GMPC huh

Actually you need to select MFM map tiles in Maspource using Mapsource's Map Tool () and then select Send to Device, thereafter selecting GMPC as target device. You can also learn more here: How to use Garmin Mapsource

Most probably you had excluded main MFM map tiles when selecting with Map Tool. When you use Map Tool, do observe the map tiles shown in Maps tab list (see pic below) to verify correct maps are selected. If you need to select all map tiles (29 in total), first select View > Zoom Out Region (shortcut: CTRL –), and then select all maps using Map Tool by click-and-dragging from one corner to the other diagonal corner.

i bet it is.. well, when i'm installing on my other machine running windows XP, it works like charm, i can browse map etc, but not on windows 7 platform.. i'll try to look around to find the fix.. but if u do know first than me, keep posting here ok, thx..

thx for the reply dvpro, anyway, how bout the if i wanted to 'add up" a new road of my area? i did made my own track via phone and wanted to edit and make my own road for it.. do i use mapsource to do so? coz whenever i upload from my phone doesn't show in my laptop or vice versa ( phone - pc/ pc - phone)

i think garmin come out with a better GUI based GPS program for PC,
last time i use nRoute ... comes with mapsource .

here's the pics ... who say use PC @ car will have so much problem ???
