Garmin ecoRoute™

Good news for users of nüvi® 205-series and nüvi® 705-series.

This add-on software to be launched in February 2009.

With ecoRoute, users will have a “less fuel” option as a routing preference. When selected, nüvi will determine the best route for saving gas.

Features:
    1. Allows users to select the most fuel-efficient route and even track their fuel usage.
    2. Can also customize your nüvi by entering vehicle type, your car’s fuel economy and the current price of gas.
    3. Generates Fuel Report and Mileage Report
  • Fuel Report tracks fuel usage over time.
  • Mileage Report monitors mileage and fuel usage on a per-trip basis.

For more details, click on the link below;
Garmin Extras

Hope users can install this software and feedback on the efficiency.
I wonder how different "most fuel-efficient" route is calculated, aside from "shortest route". :-k

I wonder if it can detect and avoid traffic lights. The stop/start at the traffic lights is definitely not good to the fuel economy. I have 10 traffic lights for the 10km I have to go through to/from the office, or I can use an alternative longer route with 5 roundabouts and only 2 traffic lights.
It seems that the current setup of the traffic lights are to turn red whenever I approached :fire: Even if I got a green one, the next one will always be red :fire: :fire:

Downloaded and installed v4.80 on my 205W (US mali) just now via WebUpdater. Prayed hard that no power outage happens during that time. In the Nuvi, 2 new folders were automatically created: "debug" (with an 11KB "GarminError.xml" file) and "Reports" (1 KB scores.bin file).

Attached are some screenshots, with ecoRoute option now available with v4.80. I've yet to test it out, as I'm still searching for the 'Help file' on the ecoRoute option.
