Garmin BaseCamp v2.0.4

Postby zamad » Sun Apr 05, 2009 4:21 pm

Wondering if anyone has tried Garmin's BaseCamp. It runs using DEM's, and since I have none, the page is without a map, only with my track.

It can playback your recorded tracks from 0.05 to 100 X speed (10 settings). Quite helpful if you want to retrace your tracks on the PC. On the bottom of the page, there are three tabs, 1) Track Properties, 2) Elevation and 3) Notes. Selecting the Elevation tab shows the track elevation, and if you playback your track, you can see your vehicle (red arrow) move along your track (main screen) and also on the Elevation screen. Cool....

I earlier installed the BaseCamp on my M600 lappy running Vista and it worked fine. But when I tried installing it on my PC running XP with SP2, it gives an error: "There is a problem with Product 111 installation. Please re-install Product 111 and start BaseCamp Again" :frus:. According to Garmin, it should run on the XP with SP2.

What is the advantage over MapSource?
I think, if we intend to view our track, mapsource should be enough. :-k
