Myself using a simplest tracker just sending and reply sms in NMEA sentences.
copy the sentence and delete some characters into google map in my Blackberry, find out the current location of the tracker...too easy..too cheap...
with DIGI to DIGI....RM10 prepaid... can track 1 year.

There are GPS tracking devices you can get off the shelf using cellphone for linkup, costing US$90/-. If you want radiolink - that will be a lot more expensive.
For cellphone links, the requestor needs to make a phone call to the tracking unit an wait for an answerback. Hang up the line and the tracking device will then SMS you its GPS location.
Just remember that there are alos Jammers for GPS and GSM system out there and they are effective.
