If I read the case correctly, and in correct prospective : SD being sued by SLA not because SD uses SLA proprietary maps but rather due to SD sueing others and demand monetary compensation for "copyright" infringement, claiming they are the rightful owner of the maps. :nutz:

I see... Thanks for the correction.

Actually, chaicka's statement more accurate. SLA had licensed their maps to SD. Licence agreement was terminated. SD continued with their business. SLA wrote to them to stop infringing SLA's copyright. SD denied infringement (said its maps were independently created). SLA sued and won.

So I won't be able to separate 2 files as MFM and SLA that allows me to update only one instead of 2 together? Is there a way around it to split the file into 2 separate files? Thanks.

To the best of my knowledge, it cannot be done as if strip the SLA overlay to be standalone, it won't be able to do routing. Thus, need a basemap (MFM map is use) to overlay.

I know someone did a strip of the overlay and then use another (*ah hem*) map as the basemap. But that is obviously infringement of copyright and violates the SLA license. It's been taken down since.

Just wait patiently for EastGear to release new SLA-MFM map weekly. Usually, it takes abt 2 days for them to release the new SLA-MFM map after MFM weekly map release.

Don't mess with SLA, it's no joke. A little history if I recall correctly: StreetDirectory was in trouble with SLA just a handful of years ago.

Bro, as you had mentioned, we cannot afford to mess with SLA. What you had said above, do you have any written document supporting it? Or is it merely what you assume? If you assume wrongly then you will be giving the wrong info to other members.

So don't assume. If you have come across any T&C by Eastgear that supports what you say, please post it here. Otherwise, we can seek clarification from Eastgear.

You are referring to the highlight in blue portion? Well, that's what I have been informed via PM.
Will take note of what to post in future, to avoid misinforming the public.

That is due to current MFM v1.64 release, and I'm sure it will be rectified in next release.

1.65 not available for download?

IC, thanks for the reply.. Using East Gear copy cos of 100% Postal code..
Not using MFM copy cos East Gear one already contains latest MFM inside.. Save some space..

If you are among those who have been given the SLA-MFM map by EastGear, then just change the filename in the URL to corresponding new number. Btw, 1.65 not out yet.
