Re: PAPAGO! GPS can uses at sarawak forest?
I doubt you'd be able to get good satellite signals under thick forest canopy. Your PND needs to 'see' the sky for it to receive signals. If there are clearings, or you travel along rivers, then yes. Anyway, bring your PND along and see how it goes.

Yes, you can use your GPS at Sarawak forest... however, under a thick forest, even the handheld (which traditionally got the best reception) also registered a high offset of accuracy. You GPS still able to perform under a thick forest (might face some intermediate "offline").

The biggest problem for a GPS functioning in a forest is getting satellite signal lock. So it is best to get satellite lock BEFORE going into thick foliage. Once you have a good fix, going under foliage should not usually a problem.

If u r planning to go trekking rather than off-roading, then u shd be considering a handheld gps like the garmin etrex series rather than the papago etc. They are more rugged, water-resistant, usually have better antennas n hv features like trackback which cater specially for trekking. My garmin works fine under mild canopy when mountain biking
