Garmin Friction Mount

Postby epi » Mon Nov 09, 2009 5:05 pm

Currently E G selling $55.00.
The bundled suction cup mount can easily drop out naturally after sometimes as it mounted on the windscreen receiving hot sun. I find that it is quite risky to drive with it especially for a long distance drive in a strange unfamiliar environment when you rely it so heavily for the direction guidance. Unpredictable time to drop out.
The look on the Friction Mount seem to be stable with the secured base designed to be mounted on the dashboard. Anyone has tried and to comment.
Think of buying one to replace the suction cup.
Any discount given to MFM members.
Thanks.

I'm using one after changing my car because the suction cup mount stuck on the old car wind screen and can't take out.

The good thing is I can change the position of the GPS as I wish. The friction keeps it station on the dashboard very well. If I need to use the GPS on some one else's car, it's portable.

Lastly, and most importantly, I can keep it when I don't need to use the GPS easily. And there won't be marks on the windscreen.

I like it :)

I have just bought it today.
For your information, the base is a special flexible rubber base that can be bent to suit the curvature of the dashboard. Therefore, it can be placed at any different positions of the dashboard as you wish. The bottom base by feel seem to be a special with slip resistant treatment rubber material.
To me it is quite good in the sense it sited securely onto the dashboard that basically served for its purpose.
Thanks.

The Law of Physics states F=MA.... depending on the rate of deceleration it can be lethal... or at least to your windshield... the choice is clear.
