Brothers, any assistance would be much appreciated. I use GPSBabel to transfer/convert an "Accident Area.gdb" file (my self-created test file) into a .GPI file. In the Output Option of GPSBabel, I enabled "Enable alerts on speed or proximity distance", and I use this file to test it on my Nuvi 205.

In simulation mode, all went smoothly except that there is no audio. How do I insert the audio? Or am I using the wrong software program?

Many thanks in advance :D
:tq:

You should be using Garmin POI Loader to embed voice files into cPOIs, more info here: http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/ When you have installed POI Loader, you'll find it's help file at c:\Garmin\POILoader.chm.

Also this is a good site I found explaining the usage of POI Loader: http://www.gpsinformation.org/penrod/po ... oader.html

However, if no appropriate audio file is embedded, cPOIs will use unit's default beep/tone.

Bro dvpro - you're my saviour. Thank you very much. I'll check it out. I use GPSBabel 'cos it has an output format in .gpi, so I thought it will work
I'll try out the POI Loader which I have downloaded.
Many :tq:

Hi Bro dvpro - Yes, I managed to get the "ding-ding" audio sound (no voice sound though) in my Nuvi205, both in simulated and live mode. I also observed that I have to follow the keywords to activate the audio sound and two keywords are only used, ie., "redlight" and "speed". Other than these two keywords, as I understand as of now, no audio will be heard :(
(At this juncture, I am still learning).

Still not able to combine a few cPOIs as it will over-write each other with the same filename, but we'll see what happens the next few days after I burn the mid-night oil :D

PS: BTW, all the cPOIs I created are stored in one file called poi.gpi

Not if you had used manual setting when uploading cPOI using POI Loader.

To add another cPOI, rename the previous POI.GPI to something else.

Okay Bro. Will go for "Express", and also to rename the poi.gpi to another name. This would mean that my created "Flood Prone Area" cPOI should beep or "ding-ding" but no human voice...?? :-?

Yes, but I mean you should be using manual setting, instead of express. Thereafter you can manually set the radius for proximity points.

You are right. The Express setting has its default distance/proximity. I'm am now trying the "Flood Prone Area" cPOI which should give me the "ding-ding"audio similar to the Redlight audio although I have yet to learn how to embed the human voice :) Then will proceed to try the Speed thingy... #-o :D

Just finished testing the two self-created cPOIs. Also renamed them from poi.gpi to Accident-BRP.gpi and Flooding-PSD.gpi.as per your instruction. Works beautifully. Many thanks indeed, Bro dvpro. The "raw" filename I am using is still "redlight" to enable the "ding-ding" audio. Wonder why it won't announce "Redlight camera intersection". Maybe the "ding-ding: sound should suffice or am I asking too much.
Anyway, will try to embed human voice later. Logically, it should work... :D
:tq:

You're welcome.

Garmin voice prompts in the voice file do not include such string.
