Yes, they have a shorter life span due to the high temp environment that they are exposed to. The water level DO get evaporated off & the battery dies off early.... and with the 4X's bouncing about, the water levels gets spilled into the next cell, and so on, leaving 1 or 2 cells dry..... pity 'cos they are expensive $$$ to start with......
I have stopped using the "sealed" maintenance-free batteries, what i'm using is the unsealed version, so that it can be monitored (made in Thailand types)
