Road safety ratings

Postby nyem » Mon Jan 05, 2009 11:00 am

Transport Minister Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat on Saturday announced about a project to evaluate safety of roads in Malaysia. Roads nationwide will be rated according to its safety level, from 1-star to 5-star for each road user group (Car Occupants, Motorcyclists, Bicyclists and Pedestrians).
- 5-star rating represents the safest road infrastructure design for the prevailing speed environment.
- 1-star rating represents a road with relatively poor infrastructure design for the prevailing speed environment.

Initial reports (based on 2007 study) are published at http://www.irap.net/malaysia.asp

To view the reports overlayed onto googlemap please go here - http://nyem.appspot.com/irap.html

From the reports I can only find one stretch of road with a 5-star rating. Let's see if you guys can find any others.
