Help me how to write a date.

I usually wrote a date like
1st Apr 2011, 2nd Apr 2011, 3rd Apr 2011, 4th........ 11st, 12nd, 13rd........ 21st, 22nd, 23rd Apr 2011,
Today, one of my new worker told me it is wrong !
She told me should be
01 Apr 2011 without st, 2nd, rd, th.

if my birthday fall on 01 Apr 2011,
when someone ask for my DOB in speech,
I usually answer "first of Apr", but not "one of Apr"
so that, I think 1st Apr 2011 is correct,
any English teacher here can correct me.

i'm no english teacher but i usually write dates like you, for example, i was born on the 4th of July :mrgreen:

all is correct.. 1st april 2011 is correct, 01 april 2011 is correct. but 11st, 12nd, 13rd is wrong.. LOL..

There is no standard. As long as you get the message out and the other party understands, that is all that matters :thumbsup:

I like to use 20110411..... why?... easy to sort in any Computer. In formal usage it is 11th April 2011.

for 21st, 22nd, 23rd as well as 31st,
if it is wrong format, but in speech, I used to hear
some of the people speak
"Twenty first of April" = 21 Apr
"Twenty Second of April" = 22 Apr
"Twenty Third of April" = 23 Apr
as well as
"Thirty first of April" = 31 Apr.
Is it correct ?
or we should speak "twenty one of Apr" ?

There's no 31st of April... only 30 days in this month. :-'
