Only window film of non-metalized formula does not block GPS signals.

Re: Do tinted windows block GPS reception?
This is a case where the more you pay the less signal you get. Most high quality tint uses metallic spattering (usually of Aluminum) onto the film to 'reflect' heat. This metallic film acts as a shield to prevent the GPS signals from reaching your unit. Hope this helps.
Common Sense Is Not Common.
Re: Do tinted windows block GPS reception?
I thought the question is whether tinted window blocks GPS reception?
I don't think tinted windows blocks the signals but it does degrade the signals so that GPSr will take a longer time to logon. Of course, those with metal based film like V-kool will degrade the signals more than others. But while the accuracy might be affected, it should not be to the extend of throwing you off course...
I might be wrong, though. But I've used V-kool before..and have to cut a hole just above the ERP device so that the ERP gantry can deduct the road toll and your friendly government won't send you nice letter that you didn't pay your due while using the road.. But the GPSr was working fine...accuracy is a bit off and logon take a while longer....

Re: Do tinted windows block GPS reception?
To overcome this setback, perhaps use an external antenna or winding the windows down slightly may help...
