Best type of Car GPS
[color=#8040BF]We are moving to Kota Kinabalu,Sabah soon and I am trying to find out which is best in car gps unit eg Navman, Garmin gps and where do I get Sabah (Kota Kinabalu) maps from????

You won't go wrong with getting a Garmin Nuvi ... base model Nuvi 40 for a start and you can use out free maps here

I agree. Stick to Garmin Navi. It will save you all the headache esp if you are not the techie type. There are enough 'free' maps of this region and many city around the world to offset the slight premium. User support here is also great.

Can't agree more on both recommendations esp for that Asian region and above all, how simple the waypoints Garmin instil in the Nuvi units... you don't want to be messing about at length when routing/searching and looking dumbfounded or flabbergasted which most of the other brand names with varying restrictions and accessibility has proven time & again... to be undesirable at the end of the day.
Another thing to consider, save yr $$$s esp. if u're thinking of getting a built-in NavSat that comes with yr tax-free vehicle purchase.... they're the worst to cope with unless you keep changing vehicles under the 9-months habit.

Thankyou for all the good replies,will look at the Garmin Nuvi... when I get one I will then find out how to download the maps from this Site
