As long as Nuvi does not read both MFM and MSM maps installed in device/data card, there would be no conflict. So any method to "hide" one of the maps, ie. renaming to unrecognized IMG map file or placing in different folder, will work. If however you insist to install both MFM and MSM in Nuvi, and then be able to select/deselect (at Map Info) according to your needs, then there is the Map ID renaming method.

hi bros

this is interesting. have anybody noticed whether the preloaded msm and city navigator maps (from garmin) uses a different file name, i.e. gmapprom.img and gmapprom1.img respetively? it no longer uses gmapsupp.img.

also noticed garmin's preloaded (read: msm) poi are also no longer in the POI folder, in fact nuvi doesn't come with POi folder. their pois are in GPX folder. that's the difference i noted. i'm using nuvi 255W.

so when i loaded all onto my nuvi, there's no conflict, the only possible conflict is when i switches map mid-way through my nuvi nagivation routing process.

have mentioned this earlier in this thread or another. just thought to share this again.

Just upgraded from Nuvi 350 (Euro set) to Nuvi 765 (local set) yesterday. Today, as I was travelling on the AYE-East towards CTE-North (destination: Ang Mo Kio) between the Alexandra Rd and Lower Delta Road exits, the below screen popped up, could a guru kindly advise on how to interpret this screen?

Hi klooless, the area you highlighted is called Highway Mode feature, and those listed are upcoming exits.

Garmin official preloaded maps have never been named GMAPSUPP.IMG, as GMAPSUPP.IMG is actually a Garmin's supplementary map which is usually added to device using Mapsource. And since Mapsource will transfer the map as GMAPSUPP.IMG, there is no possiblity for other preloaded maps to be overwritten.

Most Nuvis do not come with Custom POIs which are GPI files saved in \Poi folder. Map POIs are not separated from the map file itself, it comes with the IMG map file. While CURRENT.GPX file in \GPX folder is the current Favorites/Routes/Tracks list.

Thanks dvpro, that was quick.

That's what I thought initially, but the line with SLE doesn't make sense. I guess there must be something wrong with the pre-installed map, the SLE was definitely much more than 2.1km away from where I was.

You're welcome Klooless. As for the inaccuracy, can you verify in Nuvi, at Tools > Settings > Map > Map Info, that only MSM NT 2009.5 is checked. If you have also checked City Navigator Sing/Mal NT, that map which is less accurate (compared to MSM NT) would be the default map.

p/s From the image above, seems like you're in fact using City Navigator map.

Just checked, both "City Navigator Singapore/Malaysia NT v4.03" and "Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2009.5" are checked by default. Wonder which one takes precedence in this case. :-?

I've taken your advice to enable only MSM. Thanks again! :tq:

City Navigator Sing/Mal map which is Garmin's official map has higher draw priority over MSM NT, so it'll overlap MSM NT, if both are checked.

Yesterday the log on time was very slow (3 to 4 satellite) on the Nuvi. Today is much better. Response time is faster as more satellites - 8 to 9 response to the Nuvi.

Is this normal or due to the heavy clouding in the sky.

Any sifu could comments.

Thanks
