PC Connection Problem

Postby kop » Wed Jan 13, 2010 9:04 am

Hi, I hope this is the right place to post my question here as I've posted the same question over at the "GPS Device" section but received no reply.

I'm a new user of holux 62e. I have problem connecting my device with 2 of my laptops at home. 1 running on windows XP and the other on vista. 1 strange thing to take note is, I'm able to connect my device with my office desktop running windows XP without any problem at all. Any kind soul please advise.

Looks like nothing wrong with your Holux since it works at office.

Problem is localized to your home lappies.

You use same USB cable ?

Did you plug it DIRECT to USB port of lappy or through USB expander. If later, bypass it.

Check your windows drivers

Do you have firewalls that blocks it out etc......

Thanks for responding. Same USB cable was used and direct to USB port. I disabled my firewall too.

your home PCs whenever you remove usb drive/thumb drive - did you always click the removable disk icon and click eject > wait till a msg saying - it is now safe to remove your drive?

if you didnt do the above - it is a common problem. no way to resolve unless you re-install your windows.

Bro Kop, are there any mapped network drives on those systems? Anyway, even if there is none, sometimes Windows just fails to allocate a Drive Letter to the USB drive. If this the case, you need to assign a new unused Drive Letter for it, you can do this at Computer Management\Disk Management (Start > Run > type compmgmt.msc > OK).

Maybe the cable is faulty, try using another good quality USB cable.
