Are MFM, Malsing and MapAsia (MapKing) Maps compatible?
Hi I'm really a newbie at this :-) So please forgive me if ask silly questions. I know that Malsing and MapAsia MapKing Maps can be used with MapKing G10 map reader. Can MFM maps also be used with MapKing G10?

Bro sobamy, unfortunately MFM does not release a Mapking version. We only have maps for Garmin and Papagp.

Hi silverbeauty - many thanks for your kind reply. I appreciate it. I have Garmin Mobile XT installed on my HTC TyTN2 and the dealer installed Garmin maps. I tried to update but Garmin's message mentioned that I need to instal Garmin Communicator Plug-in, else I am not able to update. Do I really need to do that?
Alternatively, I am thinking of using MFM maps. Can I just copy ready-made MFM maps to Garmin's folder, and if so, where do I get ready made MFM maps because I do not know how to "configure" the raw maps? I really wish I can learn to be a Mapper... Thank you in advance for your kind reply

Yes you can, you just need to copy and paste ready to use MFM map (GMAPSUPP.IMG) into \Garmin folder in data card. If you already have earlier version of MFM map installed, just replace with the new map. If you have another map using the same IMG filename, you can rename MFM's GMAPSUPP.IMG to other recognized IMG filenames such as GMAPPROM.IMG and GMAPSUP2.IMG. For more info regarding suported IMG map files in GMXT, pls refer here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1958&start=0
For ready to use GMAPSUPP.IMG, pls download from the link posted here: http://www.malfreemaps.com/viewtopic.php?p=90309#p90309

Currently there are no mfm newsletters. I don't think we need one as the forum is alive and kickin'. Regarding the next update, you'll be able to download it next Monday. If you haven't realised, the mfm Garmin maps are released every Monday.
mfm : magnificent free maps

AFAIK, there is no Malaysia/Singapore map available for Papago R15. R15 is quite an old product. Perhaps you should consider using the latest X3?

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Finally, I have managed to install GMXT using mfm-garmin-100111.
Btw, I saw some discussions said that for GMXT user is recommended to use garmin-lite version. Any idea why? Am I suppose to upload to use this version?
