I use my camera-phone with Nokia Location Tagger to snap street signs and then load the gpx and photos in JOSM. The photos will be nicely placed at where I took them.

This way I'll not miss out on any extra info on the street signs such as postcode, etc.

If you are talking about building polygon, normally it is done by mappers using mapedit software. Mappers will use difference method to get the size of the building. However majority of mappers will use google maps as reference.

Mapsource is not the proper software to draw the building. If you want to submit building polygon, you need to get the mapedit software from here http://www.geopainting.com/en/ . You can use the free version for now. Just draw the polygon (use MFM standard. pls read all the article in project room) and submit to mappers.

I read somewhere that you just marked the first house number and last house number in a block. How do you mark this in MapSource?
This where you want to add full address capability to the map: the ability to search address up to house number. To mark the house number, just use poi & notify the mapper when you up-load the file.

Using NUvi to track is easy as you can enter road name as POI. Sometime you don't have to put full name of the road as most housing area are using similar name. example Jalan Kesuma 7/14. Kesuma is the common name so for the next road, I just enter 7/14, 7/16 etc.

Then up-date the full name in mapsource (make sure you do it ASAP or you map forgot the actual name).

The drawback of using my 200 is you can view the track while tracking. So you need to remember which roads that you have tracked or you will be wasting your time & petrol. That why now I do tracking with my 200 & gmxt.

About being stopped by police, well that happened to me to. No problem to explain to then then, jst show your device and they will understand.

The only problem is when you are tracking a road in not so good surface. To track or not to track, that is the question. Aiya, bumper hancur la, suspension rosak la.....

Passing thru...

I m really a newbie and wanted to do some tracking.

1. why my track displayed as a dot, instead of line? and also no tracking detected. I've already chose the option of STOP WHEN FULL. (pls refer to my attachment.

2. Is Nokia Location Tagger compatible and work well with my E71?

TQ.

Hi,

It's because your track has only 1 point, that's why it was displayed as single dot.

I shoot photos with my Canon and later geotag those photos with my recorded tracks on PC. I ensure the date & time of my Canon & my GPS-enabled Ipod Touch exactly match for best result.

Keying-in POI/road names during tracking is time-consuming and can raise suspicion among residents of that area.

Use 2 device.
1 record track - 60csx
1 notepad - nuvi, tap as waypoint. Write short-short only eg. L Tmn MFM for (Lorong Taman Malfreemap), "J" for jalan. Normally lorong have sequence, so first lorong write full name, next just sequence #.
When load into mapsource, then edit.

I monstly use Garmin Que to collect data, Some time forget to bring my Garmin Que, I will use my Nokia 5800 to collect data. Very easy to do use Nokia Sport Tracker to collect Track / Garmin Mobile xt to check untrack are and poi like road signboard will use internal Gps Photo to collect :rox:
