When you plug the unit into your usb port, it will usually start up and load maps. Immediately pull out the usb at the computer end. The unit will then say power lost, do you want it to remain on? This is shown by a status bar followed by a connected icon.

I have to do this all the time with all my 1xxx series pnds. Hope it works for you too.

I really had gone banana!

Frankly speaking, I had backup the old maps by creating an additional sub-dir called "map_old" at the root of the GPS directory. I should have backup the dir at the micro sd card! :ko: :ko: :ko:

I'll try again these few days, if really can't, no choice... gotta go Garmin office. Dunno whether the warranty will void or not for this matter!
