Hi everyone

Postby lovecherrie » Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:40 pm

Good day,

I'm Chung from Tawau, Sabah. I start to feel interest on the GPS recently, and ready to join this family...

There is 1 question i wish to ask all the sifu here, is the Garmin GPS sold in Malaysia same with those selling in US?? Because I search on those e-bay or amazon, I found that they selling GPS in very cheap price, yet i heard that US garmin is not compatible with ours one, is that real??

Actually I'm interest in trekking, wish to find GPS with track log, anyone can recommend some to me? those budget one. Or anyone here got 2nd hand GPS willing to sell, no matter which brand as long as can do track log??

And one thing, is all the GPS running on WinCe is using "pirate“ map?? But I search on mypapago website they actually allow one china brand called Eroda to download the map, but Eroda is running Win Ce right? So can say that Eroda is genuine product?

Thank you everyone.

Hi zamad,

which means 205w can do the tracking also?? got track log function?

the seller told me that garmin nuvi series don't have track log function, so in this case, how the user can contribute to the map without track log???

Hi bro,

Welcome!

"Officially" the Nuvi 205W did not have track log capability. There is a hidden menu (within Where Am I) within the firmware that we activate for tracklog. There is a certain sequence to touch on the screen to activate the tracking menu. Do a search here to find out more.

Any Garmin GPS will work World wide. You can buy anywhere and use it everywhere. Just a note to inform you that only localized Malaysia/Singapore Nuvi can support JCV and Lane Assist. Only this local map is locked to the local units. All other countries JCV & LA are support ( as far as I know) on any other unit... Hope this helps... cheers!
