Advance warn alert distance

Hi Senior.
Just came from Penang yesterday,(Sun, 1 Dec) From 10am to 1pm, Got 3 Snap shot by camera from Ipoh to KL, all of them sit below the overhead bridge but no stop or road block. Can see them clearly but too late, traveling 130km. Wait for the summon to arrived. Only one at 2nd link, stop and issue summon but I was save by the alert from the MFM. Thanks MFM…..
Just a question, what is advance warn alert distance on the MFM? Do we have enough time to react if we travel at 110, 130 or 150kmh?
Thanks in advance

Bro, in the first place, you should not be speeding
The trigger point is set between 500m to 600m from the AES location, both ways.
If the radius is set too wide, adjacent roads may be affected hence receiving a "false" alert.
Slim River area is quite "notorious" for such traps.

Thank You very much bro,
Just for discussion only:
1) I believe most of us will not keep traveling at 110kmh on the highway all the time, sure will exceed the limit 110kmh,that why the AES is important. if all of us keep to the limited at 110kmh then there is no need of AES at all.
2) The trigger point is set between 500m to 600m from the AES location, is the trigger point sufficient for speed at 130kmh and i believe is very common for all of us going at this speed.
3) Possible to adjust the trigger point 1km before the AES?
Thank again

It was at 1 km before I reduced it to 600m for AES and 500m for Speed Trap & Camera in order not to create a "false" alert for adjacent roads. Should not be a problem reverting to 1km.
The AES is not meant for you to speed. It is just to inform drivers of such devices ahead.

@110km/h you'll travel 30.5 meters/sec.
@130km/h it is 36.1 m/sec
@160km/h it is 44.4 m/sec
The average respond time of a warning is <3 secs hence you'll only travel 91.5m, 108.3m & 133.2m respectively. @500m you should have ample time to react and slow down unless you're going at 220km/h (where most of the electronic speed lock is set at) or is drunk by which time you'll be close enough to be captured....
Like Bro sobamy said... the AES/Speed warning are to alert us of what lies ahead... how you want to use it is entirely your decision. Our intention is not to encourage speeding...
Have you submitted the speed camera locations you encountered?... Cheers!

I think the warning alert so clear if we drive under speed limit,this AES alert really save me on my journey.This was excellent job from MFM community,so what i can say,really appreciate all MFM work so far.TQVM

Thank all bro,
I think we need to be practical and face the fact, who will travel and maintain their speed at 110kmp from JB to Penang on the distance of 700km, If everyone maintain at 110kmh on Highway then I got nothing to say and feel sorry for those who have contribute and develop the Speed Trap & Camera alert
Thank again

I drove from Penang to Melaka with my auto cruise set at speed of 118km/h. Why?
Becos poor men like me who depend on our travel to place food on the table cannot afford to pay the summonses... In one trip you can choke up many summonses and all your demerit points...The safest way is to use the Auto cruise button.... It's no travel No Food...
Back to the 500m alert radius... unless the driver is sleeping he/she will have plenty of time to slow down... If a driver cannot comprehend the first warning alert he/she should not be driving... go take a rest...

Bro eddy,
We are all in the same boat lah... Bro Terios is right to say that traveling at 110km/h for long distance is boring and can cause sleepiness too... but, the economic sense must prevail. Shifting the alert radius will cause problem to nearby cross roads hence, the 500m decision. This will also make the drivers to be aware of their surroundings and stay alert.
Pssst...
I sometime also go full power leh!...@#$% the electronic speed lock @#$%.... but only on stretches I know to be safe... both from speed gun and road safety.... shhh!...
